Omotola Jalade Ekehinde has opened up on her decision to get married at the early age of 18. When asked by Vanguard if she would have gotten married to another man later ,had she not married her hubby early, she said I don’t think so, because I don’t think there is any man that can handle me apart from my husband. Not because I am a bad person, it is because I am a very strong personality. I can understand why a lot of female artistes find it very difficult to find the right person. When you achieve some kind of success, you become really confused as to who really loves you for who you are. It’s not really easy, it is very hard finding those people who really love you. If you are not a very grounded person, you can also contribute in some kind of way to your own problems and so I might have contributed to my own problems.

Bayelsa Government has planned a grand reception for President Jonathan as he leaves office tomorrow. Jonathan who will be returning to Bayelsa, Otueke his hometown will be received by the governor, his wife and top government officials, the Commissioner for Information has said. According to him, the president will be received at the Government house and would be later hosted to a civic reception  in the evening at Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa. “The president will then proceed to his hometown in Otuoke, where he will be received by chiefs and his kinsmen’’, he said. On May 30, an inter denominational thanksgiving service will also be organised at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Yenagoa, after which the president will be hosted to a state luncheon at the banquet hall again in Yenagoa.

The Benue State Governor-elect, Chief Samuel Ortom, has revealed his grass to grace story.He says he was once a motor park tout and his election as governor is a divine arrangement and the handiwork of God. Speaking to Punch in an exclusive chat in Makurdi, he owed his success to God and hardwork. He said, “My journey from being a motor park tout to an elected governor is purely a divine arrangement. I cast my mind back to when I dropped out of school in Form 2 but I remained hardworking and I did not engage in crime to survive. “One thing I know is that hard work pays and you must keep faith with God; power belongs to God and He alone gives it to whoever He will.”   The former Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment said he had dropped out of school in Form 2 due to lack of funds but this did not force him to engage in criminal activities to survive.

One Ajayi Olatunbosun has been arrested by the police for allegedly hiring thugs to pour acid on his ex-wife, Bamidele Otakiti, in her shop on Adejobi Street in the Ajasa Command area of Lagos. PUNCH Metro gathered that all had been well between the couple since they moved to Lagos in 2005 until a few months ago when a disagreement soured their relationship.The quarrel was said to have led to their separation in February, 2015.  It was learnt that the suspect, prior to the divorce, had on several occasions accused Otakiti of adultery. Our correspondent gathered that despite his discontent with the alleged act, the 47-year-old commercial motorcycle rider (okada rider) had pleaded with the woman not to divorce him. It was learnt that Otakiti bore three children for Olatunbosun. A group, Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative,   has instituted a fresh suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, from swearing the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday. The suit filed on Tuesday is also seeking an order nullifying the certificate of return issued to Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission. According to Punch, the plaintiff hinged the suit on the allegation that Buhari did not qualify to contest the presidential election on the grounds that he gave false information about his academic qualification to INEC. In the fresh suit filed by its lawyer, Mr. Philip Ekpo, the group alleged that Buhari did not meet the qualification enshrined in the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act to stand for the March 28, 2015 presidential election. The plaintiff is seeking an order of interim injunction restraining the CJN “or any person acting in his capa

Capital Oil and Gas Ltd overnight commenced the loading of 13 million litres of petrol from its depot in Apapa for distribution to the various states to reduce the current scarcity. The Chairman of the company, Ifeayin Ubah, told journalists in Lagos that more than 2,000 trucks would be loaded before May 29 to boost the country's economic activities. He said that the company's facilities had the capacity to load 13 million litres of the product within the period. "This comes to approximately 500 trucks of petroleum products on daily basis. With this, it is our belief that once again our citizens will begin to smile and return to normal family and work life. "We call on other petroleum marketers to follow suit and save our nation from this impending economic and social crisis," he said.
