Fellow Nigerians, today is not June 12, 1993, but it has all the trappings of that fateful day. For those who may not remember, let me repeat for the umpteenth time, that was our most beautiful democratic day as Nigerians trooped out in droves to vote for a candidate of their choice. And it was a straight fight, but a battle royale, between Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, the Aare Ona Kakanfo (a generalissimo) of Yorubaland and Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa, a Kano businessman.  That election was epic because Abiola defeated his opponent black and blue all over Nigeria.  As I write this I feel a deep sense of nostalgia. Chief Abiola was definitely a more popular candidate whose fame was well-known even in far-flung places. As such his opponent and the godfathers behind him were scared to their bones about the possibility of having a strong President who may not be easily malleable or readily manipulate-able. Thus all manner of hurdles were erected along a path of thorns for Abiola

115 years old, Emma Morano, is the oldest person in Europe, and  she is the fifth oldest living person in the world and she has an advice for ladies who want to live long like her. She had been married once, in 1938, but it ended after the death of her young son. After that she had “plenty of suitors but she refused to settle down for a second time, "I didn’t want to be dominated by anyone, I just avoid them” she explained to the New York Times. Her action has obviously paid off as she has lived to the ripe age of 115 in sound body and mind. Staying single (with a steady diet of raw eggs, of course) has allowed her to continue kicking it at the ripe old age of 115. According to the New York Times, Morano still lives alone, and her doctor (who visits once a month “just to check in”) declared that she’s generally in good health. PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, says in order to meet the growing demand for accommodation in Lagos State, he will make the cost of land virtually free if elected governor. Agbaje said this at a fundraising dinner in Lagos. He said Lagos had a housing deficit of over two million and his target was to ensure that at least 200,000 housing units are built yearly.

Popular televangelist, Benny Hinn, was in the Intensive Care Unit last weekend. The healing evangelist suffered from shortness of breath and doctors admitted him to an Orange County, California hospital for treatment after returning exhausted from a weeklong crusade in Brazil. Benny Hinn who turned 63 last December is said to be responding to treatment. Jessica Hinn-Koulianos, Hinn's oldest daughter, said, he wasn't feeling himself after a week of ministry to crowds of over 100,000 people in Brazil. Her sister Tasha Gelyana who lives in Southern California had called her and said their father was feeling fatigued and had suffered shortness of breath after he returned from Brazil. So she flew out to his home in California and urged him to see one of the best cardiologists in Southern California. Doctors treated him for lack of oxygen in his pulmonary system. An Airplane operated by Lufthansa's Germanwings budget airline crashed in a remote area of southern France on Tuesday and all 148 on board were feared dead. French President Francois Hollande said he believed none of those on board had survived. "There were 148 people on board," Hollande said. "The conditions of the accident, which have not yet been clarified, lead us to think there are no survivors." French media said there were 142 passengers and six crew on board. Hollande said there was likely to be a significant number of Germans on the flight from Barcelona to Duesseldorf. He added: "The accident happened in a zone that is particularly hard to access." A spokesman for France's DGAC aviation authority said the airliner crashed near the town of Barcelonnette about 100 km (65 miles) north of the French Riviera city of Nice. Tragedy struck in the Ajegunle, Apapa area of Lagos State, after a 20-year-old woman, Gift Wahab, stabbed her lover, Ebi Amade, 28, to death out of rage. Punch Metro learnt that the incident occurred at the couple’s residence on Fasasi Street, Ajegunle, Apapa, on Thursday, March 19. Our correspondents gathered that the suspect, Wahab, who hailed from Uromi, Edo State, had been living with Ebi since 2013, after she dropped out of secondary school. Ebi hailed from Bayelsa State. The two reportedly had a kid in 2014, who died in December after a brief sickness. Residents of Shodipo Estate, Agbara, Ogun state had their eyes on stalks Friday morning as they trooped to watch a healthy and beautiful baby girl brought to life by a female lunatic. A 32-year-old Ejiofor Chioma has been arrested for biting off her friend’s lower lip during a fight at Ajao Estate area of Lagos. The incident happened at Canal Extension, off Itanola Drive, Ajao Estate, Lagos where the two friends reside. It was gathered that Chioma accused her friend Ada Joy Samuel of gossiping around the neighbourhood, that her (Chioma's) husband had relocated to their village in Umuahia, Abia State.  As a result of this, Chioma grabbed Ada closer and bit off her lip, which fell to the ground during the brawl. Ada started bleeding profusely and was rushed to a hospital, while Chioma, a mother of four, was arrested and taken to the Police Station at Ajao Division. Lmao....Now she won't be able to gossip. The  Commissioner of Police,Rivers Command,Mr. Dan Bature, has reacted to a statement credited to the state Governor Rotimi Amaechi, that the state police command was exposing the governorship candidate of APC, Dr.Dakuku Peterside, to assassination by withdrawing his police security. Bature said in Port Harcourt on Wednesday that Amaechi was accusing the police because of their refusal to grant the state government's request to   release criminals involved in cases of murder.

Ejike Mbaka,has alleged that President Jonathan & his wife Patience,were planning to kill him over his criticism of the FG & his opposition the d President’s re-election.
