Naval operatives from the Central Naval Command, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, have arrested nine suspected illegal oil criminals and a vessel laden with 66,000 barrels of oil. The suspects were arrested through a tip-off at Eremor field in Eremor community, off Brass River, in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state. The vessel, MT Dera 1, belonging to an oil exploration and production company, was said to have gone to the Eremor field for product testing but was later discovered to have illegally loaded 66,000 barrels (11 million) litres of substance suspected to be crude oil. Parading the nine-member crew on Friday, Commodore Salisu Jubril, put the value of the crude oil at over N1bn. Jubril said the activities of the exploration company at the oil field had not been duly approved according to Nigerian Navy’s extant regulation. He said naval operatives on patrol apprehended the vessel and its crew members about 6pm last Thursday. He said, “Our men on patrol on Thursday, around 1800 ho

The ferguson police officer who killed Michael Brown has resigned from the Ferguson Police Department, his attorney said Saturday, nearly four months after the fatal confrontation with the black 18-year-old resulted to the mayhem in  St. Louis suburb and across the nation. I have been told that my continued employment may put the residents and police officers of the City of Ferguson at risk, which is a circumstance that I cannot allow. An Overland plane carrying 59 passengers and 4 crew members crash landed this evening Saturday November 29th in Ilorin, Kwara state. The plane, coming from Abuja, was said to have overshot the runway after it landed. Below is a statement from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, about the incident "An Overland flight 1186, an ATR 72 aircraft with Registration number 5N-BPG from Abuja airport to Ilorin, carrying fifty nine passengers and four crew members,veered off the runway at low speed after a normal landing at the Ilorin Airport. The incident which occurred today Saturday, November 29, at 4.45pm, has no casualty recorded. However, the Accident and Prevention Bureau in conjunction with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has begun an investigation into the cause of the incident. The authority wishes to use this medium to reassure Nigerians that safety of the traveling public is still paramount and cannot be compromised.” the statement read...

David Beckham and his son Brooklyn was involved in a car accident this morning after picking up his son Brooklyn from Arsenal’s training ground. The 39 years old former England captain  had been at the training centre at London Colney, Hertfordshire, watching his eldest son Brooklyn, 15, play for the club’s under-16 side against Brighton. The Central Mosque located within the Emir’s Palace in Kano witnessed a major tragedy yesterday as triple bomb attacks by the Boko Haram sect left no fewer than 120 worshippers dead. Bloodstains, mangled bodies and charred wrekage of vehicles and motorcycles characterised the mosque after the incident that has recorded the highest death toll since the sect launched its attacks on the nation. The larger metropolis was left to mourn  the  scores of worshippers feared to have been killed in the triple bomb explosions which occurred  midway into the weekly Juma’at prayers. About 128 other worshippers were believed to have been injured. A similar bomb attack by the same sect was averted at the Customs Market, Gamboru, Maiduguri after vigilante youths alerted the police about two Improvised Explosive Devices planted at the market. The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF)  deplored the attack which came a week after the Emir of Kano,Alhaji  Muhammadu Sanusi  11  challenged  Northerners
